Is the date I create a chart included in engagement data charts?

Engagement data is real-time, or absolute, data. Absolute data includes data for the day a chart is created (today). If you select 5/1/2017 - 10/13/17 as a date range in a chart, for example, the data displayed includes data from events that happened on the start (5/1/17) and end (10/13/17) dates, as well as the dates in between.

In contrast, site data is data reported from daily snapshots of events on your Widen Collective site. It is the date range options of last seven day, last 30 days, last six months, etc. Site data is relative data, so it includes data from up to the day before a chart is created, but will not include the actual date the chart is created. It's not real-time data. For example, if you select data for the last seven days, chart data will display for the seven days before the day it is created (today). If today's date should be included in chart data, choose "today" or select "month to date."

In addition, charts for the last six or 12 months will only include data for the last full month. So if you create a chart on May 25, 2017, data included for the last six months will be from 11/1/16 - 4/30/17. Data for the last 12 months will be from 5/1/16 - 4/30/17.

What data is included in the assets today number on the Site Metrics dashboard?

Released, unreleased, expired, archived, and pending delete assets are included in the number that displays for assets today on the Site Metrics dashboard.

Deleted assets are not included in that number.

Can I export more than 50,000 data points for a chat?

Exports can be created if there are more than 50,000 data points; however, exports will include only the first 50,000 data points.  Refine the source criteria, date range, grouping, or filter to decrease the number of data points, then re-export the data.

Data points are the details about the assets listed in the export. For example, when I export details about embed views by location, data point details include things like file format and type; first and last name of the viewer; date viewed; city, state, and country the viewer is located in; and browser and operating system the viewer used.

When I filter for collections, does Insights filter on all collections?

Insights only filters global collections.

I'm noticing that one particular asset has the highest amount of embed views and the referrer site is listed as the Widen Collective. Why is that?

The asset is likely embedded in a system message. Every time someone logs in to the Collective, it counts as a view of that asset because it’s in the message on the dashboard.

What's the difference between Google Analytics and Insights?

Google Analytics provides in-depth data that you’d expect for any website: page views, user demographics (like age, gender, interests, and affinity), browser language, and commonly entered search terms.

Insights reports on the state of your Widen Collective site and the assets within it. It provides site data (like total asset storage, number of assets) and user engagement data (like number of logins, the number of times an asset was viewed or shared).

We recommend using Google Analytics and Insights data together to get the fullest picture of site use. You can enable access to Google Analytics on the Features page or contact the Widen Central Support Team to enable it.

What counts as a download?

A download counts once a file begins to move to your hard drive (most browsers will give notification when a file begins downloading). The download does not need to complete; you can cancel the download, but it will still count as a download in Insights.

How far back does Insights track data?

The app tracks relevant data back to the time when your site was first created.
