You’re as excited about this weekend’s release of the Widen Collective as we are, right?! We’ve been hard at work to bring you the best functionality and features possible, and we’ve got a lot in store for you this month. Check it out below to learn about what you’ll be seeing in version 13.3.

Data privacy compliance

To be transparent about how user data is handled in the Collective and to comply with the new European data privacy regulations, or General Data Protection Regulation, you and your users will see a message at the top of the site about the use of cookies in the software. By using the Collective, you consent to our use of cookies. To learn more, you can view our privacy policy from the message.

In addition, to further comply with GDPR regulations, we’ve removed usernames and email addresses from the tables on the User Administration page in the Admin app, as well as in the Users Without Roles and Expired Users tables. Email addresses and additional information about users can still be accessed on the details page and in exports, however.

Assets

Organize the refine search with ease!

If you have the new Administrate Refine Search permission, you can now change how the refine search filters display for your users. If users prefer to search for released assets, drag and drop the asset status filter to the top of the list. If users like to search by file types or metadata, update the navigation so those filters display before the other search options. Making life easier for you and your users, one update at a time!

Simplified access to the Admin app

Along with the new refine search permission, there’s also a permission called “Access Admin Tools,” which allows for simplified access to the Admin app. Enable that permission for anyone you’d like to have access to administrative pages.

Other updates

Besides that, you’ll notice quite a few updates to pages in the Admin app to continue improving the usability, readability, and navigation of the Collective. You’ll see updates like:

  • Moving of secondary links to the right of the page for things like editing metadata fields, creating new roles, creating parent categories, creating metadata types, and more

  • Headers with information on pages that previously included areas that could expand and collapse (like the Embed Metadata page under Order Settings and the Metadata Import page under Upload Settings)

  • The ability to clear search input boxes on Order Administration, User Administration, and the Templates Order Administration pages

  • Button colors that have been updated to gray

  • Cleaning up of pages to reduce redundancies and decrease complexity

Resolved Issues

  • The issue with users not being logged out of sites after several hours of inactivity has been resolved.

  • The issue with the search document text filter not working has been resolved.

  • The issue with Selection panel options disappearing when users select all assets from search results has been resolved.

  • The issue with rotations not being included when creating your own share links and embed codes has been resolved.

  • The issue with personal collections displaying in the unreleased/pending delete queue on the Admin Dashboard has been resolved.

Portals

GIFs animate in Quick View

In any portals you create that include an animated GIF, the GIF will animate when the portal is previewed in Quick View.

See asset filenames on videos in carousels

When Display filename is enabled in sections in Video Portals, you can now see filenames below assets included in the section.

Resolved Issues

  • The issue with not being able to add hyperlinks to the middle column in three-column sections in portals has been resolved.
  • The issue with video player controls for play, volume, and full screen displaying outside of the player in IE11 has been resolved.

Workflow

You’ll see a couple of updates in the Workflow app, including the ability to delete projects that are no longer needed or that have been combined into other projects and the ability to edit project titles.

New, colorful badges are also available for projects to quickly let you know the status of each project.
