Here we go! There next release of the Widen Collective. July kicks off releases every two weeks, so you’ll begin to see updates to the Collective and apps within it with greater frequency. We’ll continue to be creating these change histories for each release as well.

With that, here are the enhancements you’ll see for the first half of the month.

Assets App

New Supported File Types

We’ve added new supported file types. These file types can be uploaded to the Collective, though previews won’t be created for them:

  • ARF (WebEx advanced recording file)

  • AZW3 (Kindle format 8)

  • MOBI (Mobipocket eBook)

  • PRPROJ (Adobe Premiere Pro project)

Other Updates and Resolved Issues

  • The issue with Quick View previews of PDF files not expanding to full screen has been resolved.

  • The issue with exporting pending delete assets from the queue on the Admin Dashboard has been resolved.

  • The issue with identity providers (IdPs) not being able to validate XML metadata has been resolved.

Other Updates and Resolved Issues

  • When you select a sort order for an asset section in a portal, assets will be sorted when you're editing the portal and when users are viewing the public portal.

Analytics for Templates

An often-requested item for all of our apps is analytics. You want to see the data, right? In Templates, now you can! From the Template Settings in the Admin app, see the number of customizations, downloads, and orders for each template, and in what formats for the last seven days, 30 days, and year.

Other Updates and Resolved Issues

  • The option to send a template to someone else via the internet now says “Share via email.”

  • When you’re choosing assets for templates, the full filename now displays in search results. If the filename is shortened in search results, hover over the link to see the entire name.

  • The issue with being taken to page 1 of search results after adding assets to a template has been resolved. You’ll now remain on the page you were on.

  • The issue with document "quick previews" occasionally not working has been resolved.

We’ve some pretty exciting updates to the user interface in our Workflow app based on your feedback. Now you’ll see:

  • Your work and all work in the side navigation, along with projects that need setup. Manage forms there, and filter work by tasks, too.

  • Filter by requesting user and proof provider along with free-text search to find projects in the top navigation.

  • An updated, cleaned up list view of your projects. See important information about your projects at a glance, along with all the details. See if there are any new comments, the number of decisions made, who the proof provider is, the status of the project, and the project’s due date.

Other Updates and Resolved Issues

  • You’ll now start receiving a daily digest email from Workflow with a summary of what you need to complete for projects. You’ll see open deliverables, if proofs are needed or overdue for deliverables, if decisions are still needed on active proofs, and more.

API Updates

  • In the version 2.0 of the API, these improvements were made to the asset search endpoint:
    • Response times for basic queries improved by 65%, and there was up to an 89% improvement for queries that include metadata in the response.
    • Search queries with date ranges can now done with a precision down to a specific time, instead of just a date.
    • Blank metadata values will always be returned as empty arrays. Previously, empty strings would be returned in rare cases.
  • The issue with versions 1.0 and 2.0 of the API not reporting the user name when an asset is deleted has been resolved.

  • The issue with history not being recorded when asset groups are updated in versions 1.0 and 2.0 of the API has been resolved.
